hi guys im new here, i was just wondering, whats a good soundcard to buy for a klipsch 4.1 promedia speaker set while not spending an outrageous amount of money? any opinions are welcome :)

newegg has the <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=57&manufactory=1137&DEPA=1" target="_new">Sound Blaster Audigy</A> for $61 plus $5 shipping.

<i>It's always the one thing you never suspected.</i>

there are several versions of the audigy, but you will get good performance out of nearly all of them. I have the audigy gamer. New egg is a great site to buy stuff!

just wondering, but what exactly is the diff between all the different versions of the audigy? I bought the OEM version.

The Platinum has the 5.25" box and the Platinum eX has an external box.

The MP3+ and X-Gamer cards are exactly the same card, but without the boxes and with different (less) software.

The OEM is the same as the Player, same card without gold-plated connectors and no software (the Player might have some).

It's the retail version of the Audigy that isn't the MP3+ or the XGamer.

Audigy is evil!

Get a santa cruz for about the same price and get a better soundcard. I have owned both cards. I ended up selling the audigy on ebay. Sounded inferior to the Santa Cruz... *shrug*

I agree, but there are some people who still like their Audigys. Not quite sure why.
