In Knight Orc whenever you attempt to restore a game it asks you to give a
word from page x line x x word from the novella of the game. However, the
copy of the novella available from the internet is not a scan of the
original, so I can't find the right word, because pages, lines and words are
in different spots from the original. Does anyone know how to solve this
problem, or where scan of the documentation can be found? Also, can anyone
tell me about Level 9's copy proctection for its other games? I heard they
have some great games, so I would like to try them. Also does anyone know
any good websites for Level 9 games? I found several, but most really don't
have that much info.
My understanding is that these games are now freeware so I don't think I'm
doing anything illegal by copying and playing them.

In the IF-Archive under level9/tools, there's Paul David Doherty's L9Cut,
which can strip copy protection from Level 9 data files. The resulting
data can be used with the Level9 interpreter, see:

Using the interpreter with the original data files you can also type "#restore"
to avoid the copy protection, and there's also an extremely useful #quit which
lets you actually *quit* the program, unlike the original "quit" command. 😉
I used it while playing the excellent Snowball, and it was very helpful.
