knockouts, whilst airborne? never noticed that before.

Hello all. Just finished playing the FM 'A Keeper's Betrayal' and found
something that I've never stumbled upon before in either thief 1 or 2.

After completing this mission I looked up the stats screen and found it
had the usual counts for backstab and knockouts, but after knockouts it
had an extra bit tagged on: "Whilst Airborne: 1"

I hit the "prtscn" key, but it just didn't work.

I'm assuming this was happened when I took out the archer who was on the
look out of the police station. I jumped off the stairs and whack'd her
with the blackjack. (very un-ghostly, I know, but I do often enjoy
making a game out of blackjacking every character in a level).

I'm now tempted to see that if blackjacking someone whilst in mid-jump
will count as "airborne" every time.

Just a nice little quirk that I wondered if anyone else had noticed.

At times it's more fun to bonk everybody and hide them
so they're not found. It can be a difficult at times to find
places to stash the bodies.
Trying to go for the airborne KOs can be challenging.
Most I've gotten in one game is about 9.
I, for one, don't like to be forced to ghost through a
whole mission.

Yes, I do it every chance I get. Especially jumping from stairs or
balconies. I don't recall if I standing jump will count as an airborne
BJ or not.
I did it a lot in T2, but been too long since I played T1 to remember.

I think it's usually "While Airborne". Maybe the mission creator
modified the text.

This was a new feature in Thief 2. No earlier version had it, to the
best of my knowledge.

That generally doesn't work for DirectX screens. There are programs that
can do screen captures anywhere. In Thief you can usually do a screen
capture with F10, I think (it goes to a file in the Thief directory, not
the Windows clipboard). I believe this works even on the stats screen,
but I'm not 100% sure.

I usually blackjack everyone I can. I like to explore thoroughly and try
to get all the loot and secrets.

It does. It's very easy to get a BJWA against a standing guard. You just
have to figure out the timing. It's even pretty easy to get it against
patrolling guards after a little practice.

Fraps can do this http://www.fraps.com/
There are limits on the unregistered version, but it shows fps and captures
screenshots.

Try hitting LeftShift+prtscn sometime. Then go into
Windows Paitn program. Then go in to the EDIT menu
and select PASTE if it is available.

Save the file to where you want then instead of the
default directory thief saves it to.
