Knowledge aspiration angry rant

What kind of sickos have Maxis employed to make the aspirations? They all
work fine except the knowledge aspiration, which is gimped so bad it is
not half funny but all irritating. To keep a knowledge Sim in gold, much
less platinum, is pretty much impossible after a few days. They doggedly
cling to their desire to see a ghost and be saved from death, which leaves
only two slots for realistic wishes. To top it all, these are typically a
level-up for one of their skills, which easily takes a day of nothing but
reading, with short breaks for food and toilet. Compare this with the
Family and Romance aspiration, which can easily get to platinum just by
kissing and talking.

Someone at Maxis need to be physically punished until they repent with
tears. It's enough that we geeks get a raw deal through our entire
childhood and youth, if we're not to get the same treatment in our
supposed favorite computer game. There needs to be a fix for this, and
soon.

Good call! Sims with Knowledge aspiration should be single, too, IMO. The
upkeep leaves the other spouse a single parent anyway. :)

Oh dear! I just created a couple that both have the knowledge
aspiration. They just finished their first day, and it was fine.
They got their easy wishes for kissing and furniture--now it's about
getting a telescope, getting skills, and getting certain jobs. If it
gets really hard, they could be in for a short, unhappy life.

I've played quite a number of successful knowledge Sims, and I can tell
you it is tough unless they are supported by some money-earning Sims (or
the motherlode cheat).

What I do is I have them study almost constantly on two different things.
Earn one point in two different skills, then wait for their wants to
change. They should have skill increase wants for both skills at this
point. Now, just lock one skill while you work on the other. Make sure
you earn at least one point every day or the want for the skill you work
on will probably go away.

I don't know whether it is different if they never get started down the
evil path of knowledge, but I currently play a single male and a single
female with knowledge aspiration. They are both madly in love and will
spontaneously make out when visiting (well, that's mostly her idea), but
none of it appears on his wish list (he's the one that has studied the
most) and only two wishes on hers. I expect once she has read a few books
she won't care much about flirting either...
