Hello,

I recently purchased a Kodak printer on craigslist, and I am already regretting it.

First off, it didn't have ink, so I bought brand new ink, but it will not print black or red no matter what I do. I ran the troubleshooter. I had the printer clean the printer heads, had it realign the printer heads, everything. Nothing works.

I checked on Kodaks website and apparently I need a new printerhead and that i would have to order one.

Does this sound correct or could there be another issue with the printer?

Printer is a Kodak ESP 3250.

Thanks!

That sounds correct to me - - it's the printhead inkways that are severely blocked (the red & black ones anyway), too badly blocked with ink that's been allowed to dry to a paste that the cleaning cycle cannot shift it.

If the printhead is removable (don't ask me how, I've never owned a Kodak printer) you could try soaking it overnight in hand-hot, soapy water. Otherwise, as Kodak says, it's a new printhead, and they don't come cheap so you may want to consider if it's even worth it against the cost of a new printer.

Alright I'll give that a shot. Thanks for the advice! Hopefully it works.

If you can, like the other poster had commented, try cleaning the print head into hot soapy water, swish around to help loosen up the dried ink (I'm assuming that might be what the problem is).

I had the same problem with my Canon IP Pixma 4000. I gave the print head cartridge a couple of good cleanings and worked great for 3 more years before it needed cleaning again!!!

It worked! I gave the printer head a few cleanings in hot water, and A LOT of black ink eventually came out of it. It now for some reason isn't printing blue, but that I don't much care about. It prints black and that's really all I will need it for. Stupid printer refuses to print black without colored ink though, which is super frustrating.

So thanks for the suggestion! (Both of you who answered my question.)
