Kodi and EE TV Box

Hi All, technical query, i have inherited my late moms EE TV Box, i know i can't load kodi directly onto it as standard due to software restrictions on the normal box . my idea is that tear it down, wipe the HDD and install android then kodi that way and run it as you would a normal android box

i know EE TV box is a re branded Netgem n8500 under the hood but not sure if there is any hardware installed to prevent this.

have been hunting round the old internet but can't find anywhere that someone has done this

I think you would have issues with drivers especially for the tuners, if no one has done it it is probably not worth the hassle, but try.
