I had been watch my MP4s on the roku for the last few months. I have many videos on a portable hard drive, plug and play types https://www.amazon.com/s?k=portable+hard+drives&crid=9JRZBJK488PX&sprefix=portable+hard+drive,aps,330&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
and everything went smooth.

Here lately, i had got my Raspberry Pi 4 going. I removed the Roku and connected the Raspberry to the TV and after months of editing on my videos, I loaded the on a portable hard drive and connected it to the Raspberry Pi 4. Everything is good and great but there's one issue i have. As i started watching my videos, every once in awhile, I can be watching my show and suddenly it freezes, it's not the drive, no errors there, i scan the drive before using then. It must be that Kodi itself comes to a freeze during the show. everything else is good accept for the sudden freeze in the show.

THe SD card that i got Kodi on is a Sandisk and i think it around 60 something gb https://kodi.tv and so far when i start watch my tv shows, the playback goes good. There are times, maybe once per show, the video just stop like pausing a DVD

Does it completely freeze, though, or can you still access the menus? What's the rating on the power supply you use? And what class SD card is it?

Seems to me it's either a corrupt install, or the card/power supply is not adequate, causing the Pi to hang

you know, now that i think about it, when watching my playbacks, i notice up in the right corner of the tv screen is a little yellow lighting bolt symbol.

What's the rating of the wall adapter? Seems to me like that fan + hard drive are overloading it
Have you tried without the fan?
In my build, on my Raspberry Pi 4, I have a RemotePi board usb-c connection so i would need a power supply for the Raspberry Pi 4 that has the USB-C connection for the RemotePi Board
All power supplies made for the Raspberry Pi 4 are USB-C, such as the official one here
