KOTOR2: Need More Advice

I'm at the point where I have control of the Ebon Hawk, and for the
first time I have the option of visiting several planets. So far I
have the T3 droid, Kreiah, the Handmaiden, Atton, and the weird guy who
keeps calling me "General".

What I'd like to know is: (no specific spoilers please)

1) If this game is anything like KOTOR1, then I know each character
will have his personal storyline intertwined with certain planets. And
by not bringin certain NPCs to certain planets, I'm gonna miss a lot of
the backstory.

2) I'd like to visit planets that'll give me new NPCs as soon as
possible. In KOTOR1, I ended up getting the old, black Jedi NPC near
the end of the game because I visited his planet last. On games like
this, I prefer to get new NPCs sooner rather than later.

3) My guy doesn't have a friggin' lightsabre yet! I want it real soon,
or else I'm gonna start chopping up stuff in real life. If visiting a
certain planet speeds up my acquisition of that weapon, then I'd like
to do that planet as early as I can.

So considering all these points... what order should I visit each of
the planets? Who should I bring to each planet? I just need some very
general advice; no specific spoilers please. TIA.

Okay, I'll try. And from the part I've deleted, you've done
Peragus and Telos and that's it. My suggestion...

No, at least not in my experience. Maybe I just missed them?
But no, I don't think it is like K1 where you should take Carth
to find out about Dustil, etc. But keep in mind that this game
now has the "influence" effect where your choices will either
result in positive or negative influence with those you are with.
Some like a more light-side approach, some dark. So choose
accordingly. Is that ambiguous enough? 🙂

To gain the most companion NPC's, go to Nar Shadda next. But ...

Yeah, it takes even longer in this game than in K1. I *think* you
can get the LS whichever you go to next. So it might be that the
shorter the adventure, the quicker. Which would *not* be Nar
Shadda. Further, you get more crystals for your LS if you go to
Dantooine.

Given that I think that N-S is the best designed level, I would
suggest Dantooine next to get a more powerful LS, and quicker.
Then go to N-S for the best constructed part of the story.

I never tried going to Koriban after Telos. If you give it a try,
let me know how it goes 🙂

Wrong. Actually, you get it almost immediately. You just have to know where
to get the parts. However, you get it much much much faster than KOTOR1.

"As soon as you leave Telos travel to Nar Shaddaa. Once there proceed into
the central area and find the zoning door to the Docks. Halfway across the
Docks will be a door that leads to the Flophouse. Go to the end of the
hallway of this flophouse and the second to last door has a guy named
Lootra. Taunt him into attacking. Also note that any characters you can have
in your party at this point will lose influence with you if they are with
you when you kill him, so go alone. His corpse will have a lightsaber part,
there is a quest that as a reward he gives this part to you but the dark
side gain is minimal even for lightside characters. Next if your alignment
bar is about 25% good or bad you can return to the Ebon Hawk for a special
fight which will get you the last lightsaber part. If you are not 25% good
or bad there are tons of things to do in Nar Shaddaa to get the last of the
points you need.(If you do not have a colored lightsaber crystal the
merchant Geeda will have one you can buy so don't scare her away) Now talk
to Bao-Dur to have your saber made."

Well, that means you have to play Peragus, Telos, and a good part
of the next planet to get your LS. Whereas in Kotor1, you get it
after Taris-part of Dantooine. Tell me how the former is "much
much faster"? I've played them through a few times, and it took
me about 17 hrs to get it in K2, 9 hrs in K1 (completing most all
sub-quests along the way. I presume you can do it faster in both
by ignoring quests).

No, take Atton. You gain influence if you kill innocents with him
which is important if you want to turn him into a Jedi later.
