I am totally new to this so please excuse any stupid questions. I am hoping someone with some experience can help me with some questions re: KVM over IP.

I am looking for a hardware solution to remotely control a computer in a different location. I know the mouse, keyboard and screen will work but is it possible to get a USB audio headset and a webcam to work? How would I do this? Is there like a setup which will pass through a USB connection? Is there any difficulty if one computer is a mac and the other one is a PC?

Can someone recommend a KVM over IP hardware?

Any help would be really appreciated!

To get resources like audio and video, you would have to do a remote desktop rather than KVM.

Particularly if you are within the same LAN, setting up Remote Desktop is super easy. The issue will be that you need the Pro version of 10/11 specifically to use it. There are similar things like Team Viewer, but honestly cannot recall if it will allow audio to pass, haven't utilized it in some time.

If this is at a remote location, that is higher than my pay grade.

Would this work for example? https://www.avaccess.com/eu/products/4kip100-kvm/

Or this?

Would i need anything else for it to work? Like could i connect both of these to the WAN through the modem set them up to link ?

You just added something that wasn't in your original question -- WAN.
Can you give a better description of your use-case? Is this remote access of a PC at another location? Managing 10PCs in a rack? Supporting 1000 laptops from a help desk? Using a PC for gaming to have better hardware ?
You mentioned audio and USB camera in your original post. KVM does not provide audio and camera (although running an app on the host could allow camera access). I am confused as to what you are trying to accomplish.

So sorry - I am totally new at this and also with the description / terminology.

What Im looking for is a hardware solution to be able to remotely control a computer from a different location across the internet. I need to be able to use a keyboard, mouse, usb headset (mic) and webcam.

Its just one computer and then the peripherals/control to be in a different location and the control to be over the internet. I have a private vpn set up. I see in this picture of the product they have a webcam connected? https://www.avaccess.com/eu/wp-cont...VM-Extender-over-IP_-Connection-Diagram-2.jpg

I was looking at these products as it appears they have two pieces of hardware - one which connects to the computer and then one which connects to the peripherals. But i wasnt sure if i needed something else in the middle? And im still just not sure if it will work?

KVM is more for if you want access to the bios like installing an OS or updating the BIOS. You probably just need remote desktop. KVM could probably turn on and off pc. Either way with KVM you wouldn't use over WAN. You would need a server onsite running a vpn 24/7 that could give you access to this local resource and this server could also run Wake-On-LAN. Some brands of servers and chipsets have something similar to KVM. These are not in any of the consumer tier stuff though.

Hello,
I am new to the forum and new to the themes of hardware solutions. Please forgive my clumsy terminology etc.

I am in a similar situations as above.
I have a work issues mac laptop. I left this laptop in the country of origin while logging into it through CyberView H101 kvm over IP via internet. When in another country working over regular internet connection it is quite slow, sometimes upto 30 sec lag. But that is still manageable. What is worse is in order to get to work files i have to log into the work vpn via Cisco Client. This VPN connection seesm to completely DISABLE responsiveness of the kvm...

Please advise on how to adress this issue and if there is a more OPTIMAL solution that i am not thinking of. Thank you in advance !
