Good Morning,

Yesterday I attempted to upgrade from my 4gb DDR3 1333 kingston valueram to the 8gb kingston 1333 D3 kit. When I do this my system won't boot at all. The motherboard won't even post.

I am running the following:

MSI GF615M - P33 motherboard. The specs say I can have up to 8gb of ram, and I only have two slots so each should support 4gb.
AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor (3ghz)
Powercolor Radeon HD 5770
Seagate 2T SATA drive.
Windows 7 Ultimate

When I put the old memory back in, the system works. When I put the new memory in I get a black screen with no information at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All I can recommend is to check the new ram specs against your old ram. If the new ram requires more voltage, you may be able to manually set it in the bios using your old ram. If that doesn't work, then one stick may be bad, or the 4 gb sticks simply may not work on your board. Board makers test a sample of ram sticks; check the board website for a memory qvl listing.

Try what Oldie suggest.

What you can also try is this:

Turn off computer, disconnect from the power plug. Now insert your new RAM. Once done take off the CMOS battery from the motherboard (it looks like/ is a watch battery).
Leave it off for about 10-15 minutes. Now plug the battery back in and turn the system back on.
