Kyro II and system Problems

I have AMD athalon 1.2ghz, 256mb DDR ram, FIC AD11 mb, Kyro II video card.

When I run 3dmark2000, My scores seem to be around 4200. For a card that is as good as they say it is, this seems kinda low. Is there anyway that I can tweak my system to get better performance. Also, the video card seems to not handle lots of motion very well. I get out of sync video in the benchmarking tools. Any suggestions on improving this?

I just bought and built this system. and things just dont seem to be working very well.

Any ideas are appreciated, thanks.

This is the best I could get from all the tweaking I performed. According to Madonion - others with slower processors have benched higher the I.

With 3DMark2K most people run the default benchmark which is 1024x768x16 not 32. What score do you get with the default benchmark?

<b>Update:</b> I forgot the Kyros don't do well with 16-bit color. I'd still be interested in your score.

Incidentally, with 32-bit colors, your score is higher than most of the scores posted for the Geforce GTS/PRO, regardless of processor speed. The highest score is only 4905. You have to look at Geforce 2 Ultras and Geforce 3's for higher scores than that and the Kyro II won't compete in that league, not at 1024x768. (Maybe at higher resolutions it will).

Here is what I have, regardless of what my scores say, the graphics still look choppy and out of sync. My system even pauses in the middle of some of the tests at random intervals. Seems like some kind of bandwidth issue.

I've heard that the current direct x 8a has a bug will the kyro cards. they didn't enable an option for it the the cards can do.
3dmark is a directx benchmark and is affected.

that is strange...
my kyro 2 is extremelly fluid on 3dmark2000!
I get with a duron 800 close to 4000...

maybe you could visit this site and post there your problem...
I am sure they could help you ...

4000! I thought the Kyro II could do better than this.

In 3dMark2000 on a Geforce256 SDR at 1024x768x32 I get <A HREF="http://gamershq.madonion.com/products/orb/?publish_compare.shtml?&project_type=1&dprid=1213149" target="_new">3808</A> and at 1024x768x16 I get <A HREF="http://gamershq.madonion.com/products/orb/?publish_compare.shtml?&project_type=1&dprid=1377235&search=1" target="_new">5644</A>.

I think I will avoid the Kyro II until all the problems are worked out. I had (and still have) high hopes for it.

we are speaking of a non T&L card here...
I have a low end cpu...
there are already many people saying that kyro 2 get more than 6000 in 3dmark 2000 with pentium 4 ...
By the way the results in 1280x1024x32 are very similar than 1024x768

but...
I don't play 3dmark much
;)

Have a Duron myself but it and my graphics card are overclocked as far as I can get them and working well in games that I currently play. However, I can't avoid an upgrade much longer.

but...
I don't play 3dmark much
Maybe not but I plan on playing Max Payne when it is available and it is driven by the Max-FX Engine which also happens to drive 3DMark2001.

I just hope whatever is hindering performance in 3DMark2001 and 3DMark2000 is eventually explained (and resolved).

Just because the problem only shows up in a benchmark now, it doesn't mean that it won't appear in a game later.

Im beginning to think it is my motherboard. I have my soundcard, scsi card, capture card, video card all on IRQ 11. No matter what I do in the bios I cannot change the IRQ's for all four of these. I think this is why my scores are so low. My videocard is trying to share timeslots with the rest of my cards. I have an FIC AD11 with the bios dating 1/01. I have tried to flash the bios but It won't recognize the flash file. Any suggestions or Ideas. Anybody familiar with tweaking this motherboard

All on the same IRQ, I heard Windows 2000 does that but I'm not sure as I don't use it. Are you using Windows 2000? If you are I just read somewhere (maybe in these forums) that you can assign a higher priorty to your game (or benchmark) to get better performance. Maybe that would help.

As for flashing a new BIOS. Is there a jumper or a BIOS setting that has to be set before you can flash?

I have loaded both 98 and 2k. both seem to have the same IRQ issue. Jumper wise, I have not seen one for flashing. there is a setting in the bios that I have changed which is supposed to allow me to flash it, but it doesnt seem to recognize the image. I have downloaded the proper image twice. and tryied two different floppies. Still no go on this.

you would get more 30-40% more score in 3dmark 2k if you used directx7 instead...
