I just bought a L7S7A2 MB packaged with a AMD 2500+ for my son (6yr).
When I boot the computer up it come up as an 1900+. I have read
around the internet that a few people have had this happened. The
solution to many of these inquires is to change the FSB to 166mhz. My
question is how do I do that? The FID JP1 pin settings are set to "By
CPU", these ratio or multiplier should allowed for the correct CPU
speed, I would have thought. I don't see anywhere in the Bios or pins
on the board to change the FSB. You help would be greatful.

I don't own such a board, but...

In its manual, there seems to be an advanced BIOS setting for memory
frequency. Have you tried that?

Otherwise, a BIOS update might solve the issue, but I don't see a newer one
for the L7S7A2 at http://www.ecsusa.com/.

Good luck.

What speed is your RAM? It may be the cause
of your problem if it isn't at least 266MHz (PC2100).

Bob,

Will try that to night. The only thing I see in the bios that I can
change would be the Auto Detect Dram Freq which is defaulted to
disable.

Wes

Don't think it was deceptive. It was a boxed cpu with AMD packaging. A
local store (Fry's) was selling it as a MB/CPU combo. Saying that I
didn't actually look at the chip to make sure it was a 2500+, I just
assumed it was before I put the heat sink and fan on it. Although I
did write done the serial number. Reading around the internet, I see
someone else have the same problem I have with the same chip. That
person was told to just change the FSB to 166. Just don't know how to
do that.

That's because there is no way to manually set the FSB on that board.
At least I couldn't find any in the manual. Did you try loading Optimal
settings in bios? If your dram frequency isn't 166Mhz, might try changing
the CPU/Dram Clock ratio. If none of that works, I'd look at the cpu.

Actually the manual is misleading. I found that out last night while
playing with different settings. The manual states that in the bios
the CPU freq is for display only. Not true. I was able to change it
to 166 and now I have my 2500+. Thanks to all for your time.
