Question Lag After UEFI Reset

Hi everyone, I’m dealing with major lag issues after resetting my BIOS to optimized defaults.

Specs:
• CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F
• Motherboard: H610M ITX AC (bought used with CPU)
• RAM: G.Skill 3000MHz 16-18-18-36
• GPU: RTX 4070
• OS: Windows 10 (also tried 11, same issue)

The Issue:
After the reset, my PC stutters during simple actions like opening Task Manager, UAC prompts, or even moving the mouse quickly. Games that ran fine before are now extremely laggy.

Any ideas?

You forgot to include the make, model and age of the PSU. Please add that bit. As for your motherboard BIOS, you seem to have BIOS versions pending update;

while you can enable Fast Boot in BIOS. As for your lag, you might want to go through Device Manager and see if anything is flagged with a yellow exclamation mark.

You can try and reinstall your chipset drivers in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator. For your GPU, use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually reinstall the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command.

The powersupply is a EVGA 700GD Gold that I got from a friend.
It was all working fine until I loaded the bios defaults.
Thanks for the reply I have updated the motherboard but to no avail.
Checked the Device Manager no yellow marks.
Reinstalling Chipset drivers didnt help.
- But i have noticed that the lags dont seem to happen in safe mode.
- used DDU.
-restarted.
-waiting.
-lags seem to have stopped.
-after installing drivers lags start again😡.

FIXED IT.
I opened my pc and noticed that the riser acable said pcie 3.0.
went into bios and changed pcie from gen 4 to gen 3 and it flippin worked.
no stutters no lags or hangs. it just works. Thanks for you help and have a blessed day.
