lag after underclock

i underclocked my cpu because of overheat but now i get lag in-game even when im over 60 fps so im wondering what have i done wrong??! should i change voltage to!?

You may have underclocked too low and it may be affecting your game's performance. What is your CPU's specs? (current, not manufacturer's)

A slower CPU generally means lower performance as well. Tweaking your voltage is not likely to improve this.

Have you considered a better (more effective) cooling solution and then running your CPU at its intended speed?

That's strange as it should be more than fast enough. This is a quad-core we're talking about here right?

yes it is quad-core

the temp went from max 87C to max 37 so thats a sick increase

Then you have an airflow or heatsink problem.

What case are you using? How many case fans? What CPU cooler?

my case is cooler master Glite and it have 2 fans, one is at the bottom front and the other is in the back + the fans for the diffrent components. and the cpu cooler is the one i got with my amd fx-4100

Understood. Make sure the front fan is sucking in cool air and the rear fan is blowing hot air out the back of the case. Typically, front and side fans pull in cool air, and rear and top fans pull hot air out of the case.

The OEM heatsink(one shipped with the FX-4100) is not a very effective device. I would suggest changing to an aftermarket model.

What specific Elite case do you have? Cooler Master has several of them.

i found the right underclock and voltage so now it works smooth again

You really need to fix the problem with your CPU overheating rather than working around it
