Lag due to low vram I.e. 2gb

Hey, i am trying to play batman arkham knight on gtx 760 2gb but when in the graphics settings there is an option of changing texture resolution to low or normal at low it works perfectly but looks horrible and when switched to normal starts lagging after 5mins.
What can I do
Ram-8gb
Cpu-amd fx 8350

Did you monitor VRAM usage directly? Operating system?
