Lag in Games

So I recently bought the AMD R7 260X OC 2 GB DDR5 edition graphics card.I installed it on my computer and everything seemed fine.I then opened Call of Duty 4 and the game worked fine for about a minute or so and then all of a sudden it started lagging and then after a while it became fine and then started lagging again. This is taking place in almost any game.

I am a casual gamer so don't really need the best of things.Same thing happened with Battlefield 3.I cleaned my computer thoroughly and so on but it is still happening.I don't have that much computer knowledge so can someone help me fix this?

My PC Specs (What I know) -
AMD Athlon 64X2 5000+ 2.60 GHz
AMD R7 260X OC 2 GB DDR5
4 GB Ram
Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 Bit.

EDIT : I ran Battlefield again and took a screenshot of the stats of my cpu when the lag happens.

How strange. Thank you for the photo. Have you installed the graphics drivers and updated them? You can download this piece of software and it looks at your PC to see what is the latest updates needed: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

I updated the drivers and still no luck.Game still lags after a minute and then becomes fine and then lags again.Same story.

EDIT : I did not notice this before but when the lag is happening, the sound gets repeated like if someone is saying - "Okay" in the game, then he will say Okay like 2 or 3 more times. Its like it repeats itself. Also the game does the same thing. Some frames get repeated again and again.

The only thing I can think of aside the drivers is that your new card may be faulty. Is it possible to put in your old card to see if it fixes the problem? If it does return the new card for another and see if that helps. :)

Well,I did not have a graphics card before this. There is an integrated graphics card in it.ATI X1200 Series.

On this integrated card too first all the low end games like GTA San Andreas worked fine, but now it started lagging on that too.Same thing as this new card.

Also,I don't think it is because of heat or anything as I got a new cooler for my cpu, applied thermal paste and played it in an air conditioned room.Still lags.

Your issue is almost guaranteed to be the CPU.
You paired a new card with a 7 yr old CPU.

As you can see in the performance in the link, the CPU is way behind what newer games need, the FX 6300 is the lower end recommended CPU for a gaming system, and the one you have is about 5 times slower in the CPU benchmark.

Upgrade the CPU, which will probably mean a new motherboard and RAM, plus a new Windows setup, and you will be fine with games after that. BF3 is not super new, but it does still look for a newish quad core CPU as the recommended CPU.

If you can't change the CPU, you can try to run on lower settings or lower resolution.

Putting a 260X in a system with an Athlon 64 X2 is very unbalanced. You could have gotten a much cheaper card unless you are planning to move the card in a new system soon.

What graphic card do you recommend for my cpu?

You're doing that backwards, you should upgrade the CPU.

The CPU is the slow part of the computer, so you want to get a slower video card to match it's slowness instead of upgrading the CPU to play the game properly. That does not make sense.

You may as well keep this card, a faster or slower one won't make any difference unless you change the CPU.

I recommend upgrading you Processor as it bottlenecks you Graphic Card ,also for RAM you should have at least 8GB for decent gameplay.

For the processor I would recommend an AMD Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition
For the RAM you could go for Corsair XMS3 8GB
Both are quite cheap and would enchance you gameplay experience.
