Lag on ADSL

Hi,

I recently had ADSL installed for many reasons, one of them being so i could
play Quake3 online, but I have found that the best ping rate I can find is
around 250. This sounds awefully high to me and some practice play has left
me with negative frags.
It could be that I just need some more practice, but what is a reasonable
rate to join a server with?

adsl 512/1meg dl and 256 ul i use
rate 25000
cl_maxpackets 125
snaps 40

I'm running ADSL and I have several servers that have 50 and 60 pings
with a few even lower.

My recommendation is to go to a web site such as www.dslreports.com
and go to tools. Then run their speed tests and then run their
tweaks. Your problem might just be a setting.

I tried the tests on www.dslreports.com Chilimac - and it said i was running
at optimum. I have found one Australian Q3 server that I connect to at 70 -
but it is the only one. Should I assume that all the other servers then,
are in the US and other far away places? Maybe I should have said that I
was in AUS to start off with - sorry!
