For a while now... i mean like 4-5 months i have suffered with lag on my computer, it un explainable and i have tried everything to fix it...it has major lag issues even when on youtube and for a pc at my "caliber" it shouldn't be like this

to be honest i have tried everything if anyone could help me i would be very appreciative, as it is stopping me not only play games but even stopping/or preventing me recording the games too
(for my youtube channel)

Check the hdds (if it is one) usage at the time of the lag spikes on task manager, have it open at the side of the screen. I have a laptop that does something similar when the hdd usage is at full as the drive cant transfer data fast enough. If this is the case then the chance is that you got a 5200 rpm drive l, and so shoild look into a 7200 rpm drive or an ssd.You should also worth trying to see what is using the drive if you have an ssd or 7200 rpm drive

What is it like it can't be unexplainable is it like coming to a sudden hault (freezes) then works again or is it plain so slow its unbearable,
Try ur best to explain as much as you can :)

Jack im dsorry for down voting your post, it was an accident. In answer to your question you can enter the bios and it should say what version of bios you are running, then if you note. That down you can compare it to the latest version available from the bios vendors website
