Lag spikes happen all sudden

So i played through the witcher 2 recently not much lag, only when explosions happened and such. Then i installed witcher 3 and i got lagg spikes i only assumed that was because my computer couldn't run witcher 3. So i decided i needed more witcher and wanted to play through witcher 2 again on a different path but then lag spikes kept happening there too. Whats wrong, help a desperate gamer in need.

My Specs:
Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU 2.40 GHz
8 GB ram
Intel HD 4600 Graphics

Your comp does not have a dedicated gpu so witcher 3 will be at most 10-20fps. Check to see if your cpu is overheating. When you are playing witcher 2 is your laptop plugged in. Also is your laptop set to performance mode. Do you have a cooling pad?
