Hi guys. Recently I bought a new gaming laptop (Lenovo Y700) which has pretty decent specifications (i7 6700-hq and Nvidia GTX 960M 4gb). Ever since I got this laptop, I've been experiencing so called lag spikes / stuttering in my games not just on multiplayer (online), also on singleplayer. I've tried multiple method to solve this problem but non seems to work. I have a decent internet aswell so connection to online servers shouldn't be a problem. All drivers are updated, windows 10 is updated, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, various launch options, etc. Whenever I'm experiencing this lag spike / stuttering, it doesn't seem to lower down my fps, it stays static which is at 200fps. In online, whenever I'm experiencing this problem, it also leads to sound looping issues. Other online players will be able to see me move / shoot but I'm actually lag spiking / stuttering. If anyone could help me to solve this problem will be tremendously appreciated. Thank you so much for reading.

Also forgot to mention, my brother has the same model of laptop as mine, but he's not experiencing this problem. I tried copying his windows settings and also in game settings but non seem to work.

So, no FPS drops, just sudden lag spikes? That one is hard to diagnose for sure.

I would start by background-monitoring CPU temperature and usage while gaming. Report back max recorded values for temps.

The issue you describe can also be related to your disk subsystem. Do you have a HDD or SSD installed as your system drive? Yes, I amaware that your brother has the same system, but it could be that he does not have so many backgroud tasks or disk-utilizing apps which might lead to such issues. It might be worth to disable all unneeded apps while running games.

The last time I checked, my CPU temperature was moderate since I do play games in an air-conditioned room, but I'm not entirely sure on my usage whilst gaming, I'll make sure I'll list this down ASAP. I disabled most of my unwanted apps already which weirds me out considering my brother hasn't even configure with his settings and he's getting amazing performance. Yes, I do have a 128GB SSD aswell. Thanks for replying btw!

Jesus. Will try to keep looking :/ It's a damn gaming laptop. I can't have stutters in low-end games... Anyway, thanks for quick answering.

Im freaking having the same problem i have a good computer specs

i5-7500
Gtx 1060 6gb
4gb ram

and even i lower the game settings nothing happens
i tried every solutions that i search in the internet

Yes, all of my games are set to run on the Nvidia GPU. All drivers are are also up to date, however the stuttering issues is still not solved.

This problem occurs in every game I play, for instance GTAV, Rocket League and CSGO. It usually occurs every 10 minutes or so. As far as I'm concern, it has nothing to do about the games as I've reinstalled the games multiple times and it is still not fixed.

Your specifications are fair enough for all these games. I'll work on it and get back to you. GTX 960M is good, but lemme figure it out.

Hey, I have the same laptop (Lenovo Y700) and I was experiencing lag in Interstellar Marines every time someone shot a gun. I was able to solve this by rolling back to the previous driver then I was able to run the game on Ultra High settings no problem.
