Lag/Stuttering during gameplay with new rig, probably Intel Core i7 4790 related

So recently I got myself a new PC. I build it myself. In the past I build PC's for a few of my family members. Those rigs all ended up well and worked without a problem, for me however, not so much.
(Found the solution myself, but I'll keep this here if somebody else as stupid as I ever has the same problem)

Like the title says, I am having a lot of lag/stutter during gameplay. It comes with a few second interval, so the gameplay can be really smooth, only to stutter and then continue being smooth. The audio cracks up as well. I tried lowering the graphics on multiple games, but this didn't effect the stuttering at all. I've tried out 3 games; Arma 3, Borderlands 2 and Attila Total War. It doesn't seem to happen during normal pc usage.

Now I've been searching the internet for a solution for hours. I've updated every driver I have, but to no avail. I do believe it has to do with my CPU, since my graphics card worked fine on my previous build. But I can't imagine what the problem possibly could be. (The CPU doesn't go above 27 degrees celcius during those games. So overheathing doesn't seem to be a problem either, nor can I imagine it is a shortage of power)

Here are my specs:

Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 3
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790
GPU: MSI Radeon R9 270X Gaming 4G
Memory: 2x KINGSTON HYPERX FURY 4 GB DIMM DDR3-1600
1x Kingston HyperX FURY 4 GB DIMM DDR3-1333
1x Nanya 4GB DIMM DDR3 1333
PSU: Corsair CS650M

Maybe it has something to do with my RAM, since I am combining my old 1333 mhz chips with the new 1600 mhz, but I also combined 1600 mhz and 1333 mhz chips in another pc without any problem, so it doesn't seem logical.
Thanks in advance for everybody's time and effort to help me find a solution to this!

(Update: I've removed the old RAM chips, which got rid of the stuttering. However, I noticed with coretemp that the temperatures of my cores actually go up to about a 100 degrees celcius. Which is weird, since I haven't overclocked my PCU. Any thoughts on that?)

(Update 2: Turned out the heathsink of my PCU was only attached to the motherboard with 3 pins, instead of four. Connected them all, now temperature is at a comfy 55 degrees celcius while gaming. Put the other memory back in after which the stuttering and lag didn't come back.)
