Lag when at 100% CPU usage

Help, my computer lags really badly when its at 100% cpu usage. It lags for a while, then is fine, then lags. There is more lag than when it's fine. Due to this Lag i Cannot play any games watch movies, or run virus scans because of the lag, If i try to run a virus scan it takes around 4 hours cuz of the lag. I have no viruses in my computer and i have 265MB of RAM. Can someone help me out? Here is a link to all the processes my computer uses

1. You need to go to 1gig of RAM
2. Prevent at least 10 of those apps & services from starting automatically
3. Defrag every other day
4. Buy a registry clean-up program like Registry Fix, and use it regularly
5. Run Ad-Aware and Spybot every day before you shut down

If you're not going to be pro-active in taking care of your comp, it will trouble you like it's doing.

Well you're number 1 problem is you bought a compaq hehe. A lot of the crap that they install on the computer is very unnessesary and slows the computer down.

You also have W32.Ronoper.Worm

Like the previous person mentioned you NEED more ram. 256 is the min that XP will run on, you really need to have more if you want to do any kind of mulitasking.

But when i first got this computer it had xp on it and it ran really good. Now it slows down whenever my cpu usage goes to 100% it slows down drastically for like 5 minutes and then is fines, then lags again. This problem never occured before. I have had this computer for 3 years and in the first 2 years i was able to run games like Warcraft 3 World of Warcraft and Americas Army. Now i cant even run a simple virus scan.

PS is therere any good registry clean-up programs that i can download?

You have an infected and bloated comp.

Go to McAfee (or Norton) web site for a free scan to get rid of the worm. Even if it takes 6 hours.

Download Ad-Aware SE Personal (1.06) and Spybot. Install them & run them.

The best registry clean-up apps cost money. The free ones are not as aggressive. I like "Registry Fix" (about $37). If you go that route, make sure you register the product as soon as you install. Do not think for a moment that the trial version will fix your problems. IT WILL NOT!! You need the full version ($$).

Re-read my post for things that you should do to get back to your good days. After you clean up, memory will help the most.
