Laggy Gaming Experienced

I’m playing Fortnite on a Lenovo Ideapad 310 with 4gb of DDR4 ram, a 940mx and an intel core i7-7500u, which meets all the basic requirements for fort nite, however, when there are gun shots and massive build fights or bright lights the game stutters from 45-50 FPS to 1-5 FPS. Why is this so?

Look with MSI Afterburner which one gets into trouble. It's what it is,basic doesn't mean optimal.Haven't looked but if you could upgrade ram might that help,but can only be said after looking with Afterburner.
