Hi,
Fairly new to building my own machine, this community definitely helped me make a suitable choice of a processor ( my vendor wanted to sell me 5960x). The knowledge gained is a penny saved ;). I think am gonna go with 5820k just a few less cores that's it. Post this now am questioning his choice of components as well. So here goes my story.
I want to build a system for 2k/4k editing, primarily Premiere/da Vinci and Motion graphics Adobe Aftereffects with element 3d. Though I do play games once in a while, but that not the objective. I need a future proof machine at least for next 2 years. Budget for me won't be an issue but I am one guy who doesn't get really excited with the new gizmos out there. Came down on a the processor a notch so that I can invest the saved penny on ssd.
Questions
1. MB? I have been advised gigabyte x99 UD. For sure I would love to have at least 12gb RAM (make?) And USB 3 along with gigabytes LAN and enough slots for gfx card. Wondering if I am overspending on gigabyte x99.
2.Ram again I read somewhere that there are Ram with 3000 Mhz, though my vendor proposed me gskil ddr4.
3. Gfx card...now here come the tricky part. Been reading abt geforce/quadra debate without an outcome. Been proposed gtx 980 ti, is it a good buy.
4. Power supply. Wondering why is it expensive ;p.
Yes as I said earlier budget is not an problem but then I don't have a family oil well :D.
Since I am based in India choices sent that much but for sure willanage to source the much needed components.

Note: Am just worried abt not giving enough resources to all the components ie. Is the processor enough for 12gb ram.or more and vice versa. Is using Ssd as my primary drive will become a bottleneck for internal data transmission in the machine. Is the gfx card too slow or fast for the rest of the system.
BTW I am gonna be going for windows along with hacknitosh... Too much to ask.

Need help so that I can build the machine and have a good night sleep.

Your choice of motherboard is fine. Its standard and not to expensive.

3000 mhz is the speed of the ram but looking at your planned uses id say that quantity and speed are equally important. Go for at least 16gb of ram, 32 gb is also very good excellent even but dont go over that. For ram speed go for something in the neighborhood of 2666 mhz.

The 980ti is a gaming gfx card and while it is a nice card your paying for a premium you don't need for editing(core speeds, overclocking, cooling, etc).
Quadro cards are better suited for this work period.
A plus is that quadros use less wattage, this gives you a better budget for your power supply.

For your power supply, there expensive because some are designed with efficiency and reliabilty in mind. Those are appreciated but not always required. Also the fact that it might be a modular power supply changes its price. Go for something below 100 usd.

For the ssd, it wont be a bottleneck but if your still worried i suggest looking into the 950 pro m.2 nvme drives but those are expensive.

Hope i helped :)
