Good day. I recently replaced our built in LAN card with a new LAN adapter. After driver installation from the CD and hardware installation, it gives out Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration. Some details for the machine and procedures I did to try and solve the problem.
Lan card: D-Link Gigabit PCI desktop adapter, DGE-528T
OS: Windows 10
- can't access router config through IP address
- lights on LAN card and router
- same problems when using an old router
- same problems when using a different cables
- pinging the LAN card works
- pinging the router does not work
- ipconfig shows IP starting at 169
- LAN card shows up properly on device manager
- internet works on WiFi
- no spare PC/laptop yet to test
Things I did:
- unplug everything and restart
- disabled onboard LAN
- replugged LAN card and reinstalled drivers
- used different PCI port
- disabled IPV6 on adapter properties
- tried different command prompt codes found online
- assigned IP address, subnet mask and gateway manually
- disabled, enabled LAN card on device manager
