Question LAN ethernet not working?

I live in a hostel in college.In each room internet is provided through ethernet port.When my friend connects his laptop in my room's port it shows that it is connected to network 43(internet works) and when i connect my pc to it it shows network 16(internet does not work).How can i fix it?

Does LAN work with different router? What pc using?
