LAN (ethernet ?) Port Not Working

My computer cannot connect to the internet using the LAN. I also discovered that the LED light of the LAN port (ethernet?) on the laptop is permanently on. whenever i remove the LAN cable to other computers, it works. Please i need help.

Have you run the troubleshooter yet on it? Also, have you tried disabling & reenabling the adapter in Device Manager?

Part of the problem is that LAN was not listed when i opened the network adapter. It only listed Intel wifi link, and microsoft virtual wifi adapters
