Hi,

So I woke this morning and clicked on a reddit link that make me wonder if I f..... up when I built my PC 2 years ago!
On this reddit post it talks about lane switching and that if I use the M.2.1 slot above them PCI X16 lane for the graphics card, the graphics card is set to x8 instead of x16.
So I have a Seagate Firecuda 530 1To M.2 PCI Express 4.0 NVMe 3D TLC in that M.2.1 slot, the one closest to the CPU.
Have I actually been running my 4080 at x8 instead of x16 this past 2 years. And if so it am I loosing in performance ?

Also when I go on CPU-Z in the graphics tab it says that my Memory is at 11201MHz, wile in GPU Tweak 3 it says 22402MHz.The fact that it's cut in half, does that have something to do with that or not at all ?

I bought a ASUS Strix LC III for a little visual upgrade so i'd like to have an answer to know if I should switch my M.2 SSD of place 🙄

Here are my full PC Specs :

CPU - i7 13700KF
MoBo - ASUS TUF Z790-Plus WIFI D5
RAM - 32 Gb G.Skill Trident Z5 6000Mhz
GPU- ASUS TUF GAMING 4080
2 SSD's Firecuda 530 1To
PSU - ASUS ROG Thor 850Watt

Thanks in advance

22.4 Gbps is the correct value, CPU-Z just shows the half because of DDR (double data rate), which is just a marketing thing. But this has nothing to do with the PCIe lanes.

You can check it yourself with e.g. furmark or any other app/game which utilizes the GPU plus GPU-Z
there you can read the bus interface it is currently using, e.g.:

If m.2_1 is occupied, the GPU PCIe port is only using x8, but i´s a PCIe5.0 port so it´s technically a PCIe 4.0 x16, which your GPU can use at full speed.
