Question Language bar

Not sure what you mean by "language icons".

Add more description and detail about what you want to get rid of.

Probably not doable unless there are user options within the website code.

There were four grey boxes with black lettering (German maybe) when I first looked. Then the boxes disappeared.

May have been some website glitch.

Sorry, in the photo above there is the language ENG on any application, like CMD.

I can see what appears to be a blurry "EN" in a white box at the top of the image.

I also see a white lettered "ENG" in the lower right corner of the image.

What computer or laptop (make, model, etc.) are you using?

The following link may help:

https://www.top-password.com/blog/hide-or-show-language-bar-input-indicator-in-windows-10/

Scroll down to Task Bar > Input Indicator. Toggle (ON/OFF) as necessary.
I have managed to get rid of EN in white box at the top, just ENG shows in lower right corner of the image. I am using MSI laptop Katana GF66 11UE. I am on Windows 11 so I cannot follow your instructions as they seem to be different, sorry.

is it always showing on wallpaper? is it actionable or just a word? anything happen if you click on it?
is it there on any desktop wallpaper? I haven't used the default wallpapers since i got 11.

Try a clean boot and see if it changes anything - make sure to read instructions and make sure NOT to disable any microsoft services or windows won't load right - https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

it doesn't delete anything, it just stops non microsoft programs running at start. Easy to reverse.

if clean boot fixes it, it shows its likely a startup program. You should, over a number of startups. restart the programs you stopped to isolate the one that is to blame.

When I click it, it lets me choose between English US or English UK as that's where I'm based. Not showing on desktop or wallpaper, just on dialogue prompts like CMD in admin mode etc.

well, I see how you had it floating on desktop
go to settings/Time & Language
click Advanced Keyboard Settings
click Language Bar options.

default should be Docked in the taskbar... which now I have unselected won't let me choose it again.
the hidden option doesn't do anything and clicking Floating also doesn't work for me.
none of the choices in the pop up seem to work for me.

Yeah, oddly the 'Dock in the Taskbar' option seems to be greyed by default!

I was missing one step, I wasn't turning on the desktop bar so naturally all the commands for it didn't work before.

go to settings/time and language/typing
click Advanced Keyboard settings

Tick Use the desktop language bar when its available

then choose language bar options and choose hidden. & click Apply

no more language bar on Taskbar or on desktop
That worked for me.
