lappy hdd to desktop 650w psu

my laptop has seagate momentus 5400.2 hdd. i want to connect it to my pc. which has cooler master gx 650w. and asus m5a97 r 2.o and amd fx 8120 cpu.

in many threads and forums i have seen that normal psu would burn up lappy's hdd. and it was written hdd supports +5v and 0.48v

not true.
They can even use the same sata cables (data and power) that desktop drives use.

my doubt is can i connect normal 12v to it. or should i cut orrange wire. if i connect 12 v will it fry that hdd
