Question Laptop acting sluggish, CPU running below base speed with FPS drops

Hey everyone so I've been having issues with my ASUS Ultrabook the model is UX501J, so I had to have the charging port repaired recently and since the repair the computer has been running sluggish. I've tried running games like Planet Coaster and Minecraft but have seen my FPS running well below the normal level. So far I have tried updating drivers for my graphics card (I have my Nvidia card set as the default for all the games I run), windows, rebooting and have even done a full reinstall to windows which has seemed to improve the situation however not returned the computer to the original performance. Before the windows reinstall it was struggling with multiple chrome tabs. I run my games plugged in to my charger and on high performance battery settings. Checking through task manager and resource monitor it seems that everything is running well below their capacity during these drops.

Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M
Intel HD Graphics 4600
Samsung MZHPV512HDGL SSD
Intel Core i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz

If a reinstall of Windows and the drivers helped, that's at least a [good] indication that this is likely a software hangup and not failing hardware.

Have you tried removing GeForce Experience, maybe even trying the DCH driver (instead of NVidia's standard)? Have you also updated the Intel Graphics driver?

So i have uninstalled and reinstalled GeForce Experience and played with the settings and noticed no change, I have checked and my Intel Graphics drivers are up to date, I havent tried a DCH driver but I may add that to the trouble shooting list.

Sounds good, do let us know if the DCH version makes any difference. I would test again without GeForce Experience, just to rule out that variable, but I'm kind of beating a dead horse with that advice. For all I know, GE has improved.

Go for the DCH and let us know if it changes anything. I would get rid of GeForce Experience entirely before testing again, but that's just me.

So I removed Geforce Experience and saw no change. Idk if it helps but the only thing that changed before and after this issue was my computer was uncharged for a few days because of the needed repair. Idk if leaving a laptop at 0 percent for a bit can cause any settings to reset or such

So I have tried running my games on power saver and balanced energy plans and have had the exact same FPS so I think there is just something preventing them from running higher
