laptop bios question?

I have a Lenovo legion y520 gaming laptop, is it safe to update the bios? how risky is it?

Why do you feel the need to update the BIOS? Unless a new BIOS fixes a specific problem that you are encountering there is no need to mess with it.

well, on the Lenovo website it says urgent bios update, but I will say the laptop is running great.

Read the release notes for that BIOS update. If it fixes security holes (especially the processor exploits) then go ahead. Just make sure to read and understand the instructions before you start. Otherwise just continue as before. Too many people have bricked their systems with unnecessary update attempts.

the bios was already updated for the intel security issues. are you sure?

I just looked those CVE's up. Yes, they are the latest patches. Changes/fixes for those vulnerabilities are not 'one and done'
