I have a laptop with 4gb of ram right now but I know for a fact that the mother board is able to handle up to 8gb's of ram. When I put the extra 4gb's of ram the laptop would turn on the fan will start operating but the screen remains black, when I tried both of the 4gb stick individually they work perfectly fine but when I put them together they do not work, it also seems as though only one of the 2 slots for the sticks work when I put one stick into the slot that I believe does not work the laptop experiences the same issue

This is what you bought, however the laptop can only support speeds upto 1066.

This is 2 products that laptop will handle better and its 8gb, so you can put that old 4gb awat for emergency and use one 8gb stick.

If you have the original packaging and receipt return it undamaged, don't know if they will charge a restocking fee for the wrong item.

The laptop is a Sony Vaio SVE151D11M and I'm not entirely sure on the ddr but hopefully the information I provide is sufficient enough for you to determine what it is. The first stick that came with the laptop is a Kingston 4gb 2Rx8 PC3-12800S and the second stick is a Samsung 4gb 2Rx8 PC3 10600s I hope this is sufficient information I'm sorry that I'm a complete newbie at this but If you need additional information I can provide it. I can also provide pictures of the two sticks if that is also helpful.

The first stick that is the 12800S is the one that came with the laptop from factory so I do not understand why that will have an issue with working with my laptop the second stick is the 10600S one which I got from a different laptop

Your problem is with different memory speeds, this is what I'm trying to get you to see.
If you wanted to, you could go ahead and buy another new hynix stick.
If it were me upgrading the sony laptop I would go with -1- corsair 8gb as it never gives me problems on laptops with good speed.
