Hello,

Looking to buy a new laptop for my 16 old daughter. It will be used for school activities, browsing etc. and some video editing, no games. Budget from £ 400 to £ 800.
15 to 16 inch display, weight up to 1.7 - 1.8 kg, hard drive 500 to 1000, memory 16, use span 3 - 4 years, no need for optical drive, will be purchased from Germany.

Currently looking at the HP 455 G8 with Ryzen 7 5800 U or Ryzen 5 5600 U processors, also at the 16 inch Acer Swift 3, but its processor Intel Core i7-11370H looks inferior to the ryzens and is at the top of the budget. Any advice or other recommendations would be welcome. Thanks.

I have always liked the Lenovo units.
Check out lenovo uk:

Most any cpu will be adequate; the key is to be using a ssd, not a hard drive.
For quality, look at how bright the screen is.
300 nits at least.

For units you are considering, go to a review site.
Look to see how upgradeable the unit is.
For example, if an 8gb unit can be upgraded, it will cost you a lot less to buy 8gb and install it yourself instead of the upcharge for 16gb.
Or, if you find what you want with a minimal hard drive, you can often upgrade to a ssd yourself.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I checked Lenovo, found a suitable configuration and even bought it. https://www.alternate.de/Lenovo/Ide...ferral&utm_campaign=deidealo&utm_term=1807470
