laptop cannot output 1440p to 1440p monitor (BenQ GW2765HT)

Hello,
I have an alienware m14x hooked up to my BenQ GW2765HT 1440p monitor and it can only output a 1920x1080 resolution. I am using a HDMI 1.4 connection.

So what is the problem? Why can't I get 1440p resolution on a 1440p monitor?

I am in desperate need of help...

Everything I have found says your laptop should be able to push 1440p. It does have the 550M GT correct?

I would check the HDMI cable. It might be limiting it. Make sure you get a 1.4a certified cable.

It is not the HDMI cable...
I don't know why it doesn't output 1440p

My monitor is 2560x1440 however the HDMI input it has only goes to 1920x1080.

You MAY need to buy an HDMI-to-DP cable instead.

Update:
I can't verify that as the link shows as unavailable to both the spec sheet and manual:

I am having trouble finding a cable that supports 1440p. Can you send me a link for the cable that you have?
