A few possibilities. Unallowed character(s) in the SSID name. Illegal channel configured on the router. If the 2.4Ghz is configured on channel 13, that could be the problem. The laptop can see my phone when I use it as a hotspot. I opened Device Manager and see no warnings on any of the network icons.
suggestions?
