Laptop cmos dead, need temporary fix

Nov 21, 2011

My mum's laptop is not storing the date and time, I understand this is most likely because of the cmos battery being dead on the mainboard and needs to be replaced but I was wondering in the mean time is there a console command or software I could use on boot up to automatically set or synchronize the time to? ( PLEASE NOTE - Date is defaulted at 01/01/2005 and will not sync when using the date and time GUI in windows xp unless I manually change it to near today's date).

Thanks, Rob.
I would contact toshiba. The uk number is the first on the list. Maybe they can send you a replacement battery and schematic diagram of your motherboard so you can replace it.
