Hi all,

I'm trying to connect my Asus G750JH (specs below) to my Asus VG278HE 1080p 144Hz monitor through HDMI and I am unable to set the refresh rate past 60Hz. I don't know if this a hardware limitation but IIRC HMDI can support 1080p up to 120Hz. Is there a workaround for this?

Another thing to mention is I get screen flickering on the password screen at startup. Doesn't seem to persist when logged in and running so it's not the biggest issue but if there is a simple solution to that, then I'm all ears. But the main problem is the refresh rate limit.

Specs:

i7 4700HQ @ 2.4
Nvidia 780M
24GB RAM
Windows 8.1 64 bit

As always, any and all input is appreciated :)

Thanks

I was poking around, can't find anything in the documentation for the monitor.

1.4b was released in October of 2011, so it is conceivable it was incorporated into the design since the monitor came out after that point. Depends on how long development time for a monitor really is.

Also need to make sure your cable is 1.4b compliant.

The cable is an Amazon Basics HMDI cable and it's brand new so I can only assume it is. However I'm questioning whether the laptop itself is 1.4b compliant (considering its age, I'd be upset if it weren't). I ended up buying a mini displayport to DVI-D adapter, so when that comes in I'll see if that gives me a higher refresh rate.
