Hello !
I have HP Compaq Presario V3018TU Notebook PC.
Current specifications of it are-
Intel Core Solo T1350 1.86GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB
2GB DDR2 667MHz RAM
120GB SATA HDD
Intel 945GM Chipset
802.11ABG Wireless LAN & Bluetooth 2.0
14.1" LCD Screen.

I found that various processors are available for cheap on eBay.
So rather selling this machine for less price, I am thinking to upgrade it.
According to HP's Service Manual, V3000 series can have Intel Dual Core T2600 2.16GHz Processor.
I am wondering that will it support Core2Duo series, say Intel Core2Duo T7300 ?
I read socket information, it says Socket M Supports T7300.
But will BIOS identify the processor ?
Looking forward for expert advice.
Thanks.

I doubt it. Hp rarely provides a bios update for newer cpus; you could end up with a dead board. You would also have to change the cpu heatsink; they frequently overheat. I don't recommend any gaming on a laptop unless it's specifically designed for it, or the system will overheat. If you do any extensive gaming, use a laptop cooler which sits under the system. Newegg has several.

t7300 was launched some where between 2006-2007, and if your bios date is earlier then 2005 then its no use to give a try, but if its 2006 or after, you can give a try. t7300 supports sockets "PBGA479, PPGA478", i suppose socket M is 478.

Hello !
Thanks for the replying.
I bought this notebook in June 2006.
I have also got latest BIOS update, which is of Dec 2008. But how one can find, processors supported by BIOS ?

UPDATE !

Hello everyone !
After trying a lot, I got an Idea.
During warranty period, my Motherboard's Card reader was not working, I got mobo change for free.
New motherboard installed is of DV2000 series, so I understood, technically V3000 and DV2000 are same.
Next thing I did is, I searched for laptops in DV2000 series having Core 2 Duo socket M processor.
I found one having C2D T5500, having socket M only.
Latest BIOS update for that DV2000 is F.39, which I have already got in my V3018.
So that means F.39 supports core2duo. Socket M & 945 chipset is in my laptop !
Now the question is, if that supports T5500, will it support T7200 ?
