Laptop CPU upgrade Wattage!

Hello,
Gateway fx laptop w/Centrino 2 (Core 2 duo) p8400 2.2Ghz 25w P478 socket.How large can I go between the P9600 25w, P9700 28w or T9900 35w. Will the Higher wattage trash this machine?

Less a concern of wattage is the concern of support - are those processors supported by Gateway on that motherboard? If Gateway has the processors listed as supported for your model, the wattage won't be an issue.
