Hello all, I just got a recent hand me down from my neighbor and I think I may of made a foolish mistake. You see I thought that all S1 socket cpu's would work on this Compaq 6715b laptop, I had already upgraded the ram from 2gb to 4gb. But the main thing that was keeping this computer down was its old Amd turion 64x2 mobile TL-52 1,6ghz processor. So what did I do I looked up and found that the AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-66 (2.3-GHz, 2 x 512-KB L2 cache) was the best processor. So what did I do....well I looked it up on ebay found one and purchased one.....except it was this processor

So how screwed am I guys, will it work? After all the processor I purchased was made in 2010, where as the laptop is 2006/7ish. And I believe they are the same socket, please correct me if im wrong.

Been looking it up for you - screwed? Maybe, maybe not?

Based on the laptops chipset (AMD 690T) it's a/supports S1 socket [http://]. Though this socket has a number of revisions and dependable on which revision, even though it's a S1 socket may not work.

The processor you have purchased of ebay is of the S1g4 [http://] socket revision. So if the CPU socket is of the S1g4 S1 socket revision it should work.

Good luck
