Yes, there is a solution, you have to use Vista OS for your laptop.

Operating System -
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium (Service Pack 1)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic (Service Pack 1)
Genuine Windows Vista® Starter (Service Pack 1)

Considering that Microsoft no longer supports updates for Vista SP1, you should consider turning off the Auto Update feature.
You might want to consider updating to Vista Sp2 which is still receiving updates.

And what do you base this answer on ? You are clairvoyant i assume as you can tell what the problem is without knowing any back story but the model.

@shallowmist, your first reply was fairly scarey, I was just adding some facts for the OP to consider and hopefully have me as first reply rather than you who seems more intent on scare tactics than actually being of any real comfort. Usually my replies are more on track towards a solution than accusing the OP of not rpoviding adequate detail to the issue. Perhaps you could try some etiquette in your next reply.

This thread is basically dead, I doubt the OP would even dare to reply in fear of being accused of something.
