Question Laptop Crashing During Teams Calls or Video Editing in Premiere

Hi all,

My 6 month old MSI VECTOR GP68HX 12VH-028AU laptop (Windows 11 Pro 22H2) is experiencing frequent crashes while on Teams calls and exporting videos in Adobe Premiere Pro.

When the laptop crashes, the screen glitches/distorts like this and the audio freezes (but still drones through headphones or speakers).

I'm looking to troubleshoot software issues before exploring hardware failures under warranty, as I use my laptop for work.

So far I've tried the following:

  • Running MemTest86 (all RAM sticks passed)
  • Rolling back to the original Gaming driver version that came with the laptop
  • Switching to NVIDIA Studio Drivers
  • Running System File Checker and DISM to check for corrupt system files (no issues found)
Any suggestions on what else I could try to diagnose the problem would be greatly appreciated!

This looks and sounds like a GPU hardware problem. I’d use the warranty.

I suppose you could run Furmark to confirm, but outcome would likely still be an RMA.
