[SOLVED] Laptop crashing on memory stress test

I recently noticed that my laptop had very high ram usage ~88% memory usage on idle. Trying some variety of methods to fix this issue to no avail, i decided to run a memory stress test (memtest64) to make sure everything was fine.
Upon reaching 5760 ram usage (according to memtest64) my computer froze for a few seconds and then crashed and rebooted.
Now when i open task manager it shows 34% idle memory usage but my computer still consistently crashes on memory stress test.
What seems to be the issue? Is my memory stick damaged?

How much ram have you got?
The ram fills up when you are doing things and empties when you stop things eg having browser tabs open.
Memtest doesn't stress it as much as it tests tghe ram for errors.
This can take several hours depending on the test you ask for.
As it tests it shows whther errors pop up and how many.
So did it show any errors?
