I'm trying to fix a Toshiba Satellite L500-1XD running on Windows 7 for a friend but I can't seem to figure it out.

It shuts off after around 10-15 minutes of use usually, but it varies, sometimes shutting down right after starting up or after a minute or two of being on. There is no error screen when it happens, it shuts off as if I pulled out the battery(even though it's plugged in so the battery isn't the cause).

It shuts off no matter the workload by the looks of it, but one thing to note is that when I try to run a Malwarebytes scan it shuts down every time after 30 seconds or so of running the scan, even in safe mode.
Any help would be appreciated.

Solution
My be overheating if it's never had a clean out inside.

Get an air-duster (ie a can of compressed air purpose-made for the job) and give it a good blowout while it's disconnected from mains supply & battery removed.

Also confirm that the cooling fan actually spins when laptop is on.
