Laptop display discrepancy

Just bought this laptop for my nephew, brad new from here...

I have a weird problem with it though, I have turned it on and noticed that half the screen is completely different to the other half, it has this weird artifacting and whiteness difference as you can see from the pictures below, I have installed the AMD Official drivers, un-installed and the difference is still there. I'm possible thinking it's a defect or something? The package it arrived in di have a mark like it had been dropped on one side... Not sure though, any ideas boys/girls?

Solution
It looks like it has a bad display panel (the LED screen). It could be due to factory defect or damage in transit but it's hardware damage. I'd contact the vendor and request a return.
