Question Laptop dock does not provide max resolution...

Before buying a dock I could get 2k@60 on my monitor by connecting the hdmi cable to the laptop...I bought a dock and connected the monitor to the dock's DP but now the max I can get is 1080p@60 .... is this because of the dock ?

Looks like its is the Dock. You didn't link us to the one you bought though.
