My Acer laptop was performing really slowly, so I did a factory reset. Initially the laptop was working okay, but after turning it off and on again it does not work anymore. After logging in the laptop remains stuck on the desktop, the keyboard does not do anything and I’m only able to move the mousepad (not able to click anything).

I tried start up troubleshooting but couldn’t find anything wrong. I did another reset and it worked fine again. But ran into the same problems as soon as I turned it off and on again.

Any idea what could I do?

Solution
I think the problem is falling back down to the onboard graphics on the mobo and the drivers.
If you haven't already clear out acers preinstalled crap-ware through safemode.
Then once its finished read what kanga has to say on both pages.

It might fix it or might not it, no full guarantee:

Call acer technicial support and mention the problem to tier 3 technicans and see what they sugget.

It’s an Aspire E 15 about 4 years old. Worth pointing out that the laptop works like a charm the first time immediately after reseting, and the problem only occurs once it’s turned off and on again. I tried starting it on safe mode yesterday and that works as well, I’m just not sure how to fix it.
