Hey there... I recently got a new laptop, and installed Windows 7 on it (x64). However, I have 1 major problem with it. About 90% of the time, my laptop won't boot up on the first try. (I turn it on, it passes POST, then proceeds to boot the OS (windows 7 logo animation plays) , and then...just stays there...forever) I then hold down the power button and restart my laptop, and usually it works after 1-3 attempts. I did a reinstall, made sure all my drivers are up-to-date, but the problem is still present.

I can't really see what the problem is with a boot log as well, as the log is always overwritten when the PC starts, and if I fail to boot, I can read the file, and if I succeed to boot, then I can't see whats wrong since...well... I managed to boot.

The boot log does say there were a couple of drivers that "Did not load" and they are the vga.sys | srv.sys | dxgkrnl.sys and NDPRoxy.sys

Neither system restore, nor system repair managed to help in any way. Also power source does not affect this at all (I've tried to boot on both battery and power cord...and problem occurs in either scenario)

I really can't figure whats going on, and I'll be very grateful to anyone, who can help me solve the issue, or at least help me find out what might be causing this problem.

Thanks a lot in advance :)

Well it does come with a GTX 840M and an Intel HD Gaphics 4600, and as most laptops it tries to use the HD gaphics when there is no heavy GPU load required and switch to the nvidia chip when it needs performance. :\

Have you reinstalled all the drivers for the laptop hardware? Windows 7 does a 'sort-of-ok' job of finding drivers for the hardware to get you moving.....but some of them are not going to be perfect. If you haven't visited the laptop manufacturer's website to get the drivers for your model number of laptop, that would explain the odd behaviors.

Does the device manager show any alerts/conflicts for anything?
