My laptop was working 1minute then I walk away and an error message of 0xc00000e9 was on the screen.i can't get past this.I do not have a disk as the computer came preloaded.it is a Hp pavilion dv5 but got repaired about 12months ago and I'm not sure what hard drive it was replaced with? Does this mean I have lost everything? What do I do from here? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

It may not be the hard drive at all, but you should test it anyway first before trying anything else which we might suggest. using a working PC, download "Seagate SeaTools for DOS" by clicking Downloads on this page: http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/seatools/

Now download & install "IMGBurn" from here: http://filehippo.com/download_imgburn/

Use "IMGBurn" to create a CD from the "SeaTools for DOS" ISO file you downloaded from Seagate.

Now boot your laptop from that CD and SeaTools will open eventually.
Select your laptop's hard drive and run the long/extended test on it.
If it says "Failed" after testing, or "Too many errors to test", you need a new hard drive.

If it does not fail, post again for further advice but be sure to mention that the drive has passed the SeaTools test in case someone asks you to do something you've already done!
